 METS’  WRIGHT MASHES  PHILS

                                                The hero tonight

                                                was Mets’ David Wright,

                                                who batted in six,

                                                with two homerun tricks,

leaving Champs looking limp in the fight.

Saturday, September 12, 2009. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

New York Mets – 10, Philadelphia – 9.

WP – Feliciano (6-4), LP – Madson (5-5).
H – Park (12). BS – Madson (6). S – F. Rodriguez (31).

HR – Beltran (9), 1st, 1 on; Wright -2 (10), 8th, 1 on, 9th, 1 on.

Feliz (11), 2nd, 1 on; Utley (31), 3rd; Ibañez (31), 3rd, 1 on.

No Phillies’ fan can sleep well after this. David Wright hits a two-run homer off Brett Myers in the 8th, and repeats with a game-winner off Ryan Madson in the 9th. Jamie Moyer denied another win. Guys! We lead 9-5 into the 8th and blow the lead and the game. It’s not supposed to happen this way; it’s the Mets who are supposed to cough up the lead. The greasy-hands of the baseball gods are at work here, and it’s not a pretty sight.

With Myers down, Phils call up hard-throwing southpaw.

If you stayed up late, here’s what you saw:

a young kid with serious heat,

to watch him, a south Philly treat.

Oh, and Raool hit two – yahoo and yeehaw!

On a day when Brett Myers went down,

a new starting face came to town.

                        True, we’ve seen him before,

                        but now that Brett’s sore,

Happ’s got a chance to take crown.

Brett Myers has got a sore hip.

                        Reason for latest two-homerun slip?

Main reason for NL East standing drop-

a big guy named Burke Badenhop.

I hate it when Fish sink our ship.

The first pitch to J-roll, just right,

and he blasted it way out of sight.

One of Phils four on the night,

                        Myers pitching was tight,

and the Champs won the first Yankee fight.
